New England Match Best Victory Run From Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five scores during the current campaign
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' initial series
But the Patriots fought back in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the win
